India Achieves 50% Installed Power Capacity from Non-Fossil Sources, 5 Years Ahead of Target

India has reached a major milestone in its clean energy transition by achieving 50% of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, five years ahead of its target under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement.

This landmark achievement highlights the country’s strong commitment to climate action and sustainable development, and affirms that India's energy transition is both real and accelerating under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The milestone signals India's growing role as a global leader in renewable energy and its dedication to building a low-carbon, energy-secure future.
