MMRDA launches track laying on Metro Line-7

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has started laying tracks on Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E) Metro line-7. The 16.475-km long Metro line-7 will have 13 stations and is likely to be ready by mid-2020. The rails, which are being imported from Japan, are transported from Wadala yard to the site using 70 feet trailers. Civil work for Metro line-7 is expected to complete by December this year. Metro Line 7 from Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E) is an elevated corridor with stations in areas like Andheri Metro (E) - Shankarwadi - JVLR - Mahanand - Aarey - Pathan Wadi - Pushpa Park - Bandongri - Mahindra & Mahindra - Magathane - Devipada - National Park - Ovaripada providing interconnectivity to the existing Western Express Highway, Western Railway, Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova). In addition, it will also connect the under construction Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to D N Nagar) and also the proposed Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli). It will facilitate smooth and efficient interchange with the suburban rail and MRT systems at Andheri, JVLR and Dahisar, said an official spokesperson.
