Ministry Approves 50 National Highway Projects in Manipur

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has approved 50 National Highway projects spanning 1,026 km in Manipur. Of these, 44 projects covering 902 km are situated in the state's hill regions. So far, 8 projects, encompassing a total of 125 km in the hills, have been completed. The remaining 36 projects, with a combined investment of ₹12,000 crore for 777 km, are currently under progress.
In the Annual Plan for 2024-25, the Ministry has included 2 additional National Highway projects, valued at ₹1,350 crore, covering a total length of 90 km in the hill areas.
Under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), the Ministry has approved a list of road projects prioritized by the Manipur State Government. Out of the 111 works proposed, 57 have been sanctioned based on the Balance of State (BoS) ratio. Currently, the BoS ratio stands at 9.81, significantly exceeding the permissible limit of 4 for a hilly state.
