Indian Railways Approves Rs 206 Crore Kavach 4.0 Project for Delhi Division

Rapid-Rail-system
Indian Railways has approved a Rs. 206 crore project to deploy Kavach Version 4.0, its indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, across 680 route kilometres of the Rewari-Delhi and Shakurbasti-Bathinda sections, including feeder branch lines, in the Delhi Division of Northern Railway.

The project is part of Indian Railways' nationwide rollout of Kavach on high-density and strategically important routes to enhance railway safety and operational efficiency.

Kavach is an indigenously developed ATP system that prevents Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD) incidents and train collisions by continuously monitoring train movements and automatically applying brakes when required. The system also enables trains to operate safely at permissible speeds and supports reliable operations during adverse weather conditions such as dense fog.

The deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 on these key railway corridors is expected to improve safety, enhance operational reliability and support more efficient movement of passenger and freight trains across the Northern Railway network.
