MEIL Showcases Expertise In Crude Oil Pipeline Construction Across Tough Terrains In India

MEIL
Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) is demonstrating strong engineering capabilities in crude oil pipeline laying across some of India’s most challenging terrains. The 489-km Arab Crude Oil Pipeline from Mundra Port in Gujarat to the Barmer Refinery in Rajasthan highlights the company’s precision and execution strength.

The project involves multiple complex technical processes, including Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) to safely cross 10 major rivers. To ensure stability and longevity, pipelines are reinforced with concrete weight coating to prevent floating and corrosion, and protected with geotextile lining in rocky stretches. Advanced welding, X-ray inspection and hydro-testing strengthen reliability and ensure the pipeline can operate safely under high pressure.

MEIL Group has executed more than 1,200 km of crude oil pipelines on schedule, supported by 24/7 monitoring rigs and skilled teams capable of handling diameters ranging from 30 to 42 inches. Such pipelines are crucial for India’s energy security, enabling uninterrupted crude supply to refineries, lowering logistics costs by up to 70% compared to road transport, reducing emissions and supporting continuous industrial operations.
