M'rashtra plans 19,147-ha township in Raigad region

The state government in Maharashtra will develop a new planned city in Raigad district on the banks of Kundlik River on 19,147 hectares, and at a distance of around 100 km from Navi Mumbai. The new city would be third in the state after Navi Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Airport Influenced Notified Area (NAINA). The notification of appointing City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) as a special planning authority and for land acquisition was issued by the government recently. The new city will come up across 40 villages spreading to four talukas of Raigad district - Roha, Alibaug, Murud and Shrivardhan and that the largest part of the new township will come up in Roha taluka where land from 27 villages will be acquired. Under the state government's integrated industrial township policy, 60 percent land is meant for industries and 40 percent can be used for residential and commercial purposes, said official sources.
