Ludhiana to Inaugurate C&D Waste Plant in Dhandhari

C&D Waste Plant in Dhandhari

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is set to inaugurate a new Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Plant in Dhandhari, marking a significant move towards sustainable urban waste management.

Initially planned under the Smart City Mission, the project was later shifted to the Swachh Bharat Mission due to structural challenges and rising costs. The original estimate of ₹2.69 crore escalated after the site was found to be a dumpsite, requiring pillar construction and trash clearance. The final tendered cost stood at ₹7.30 crore, with an additional ₹2.20 crore sanctioned under the Smart City Mission for machinery.

The facility will have the capacity to process 100 tonnes of C&D waste per day, converting it into reusable materials such as tiles, thereby reducing landfill burden and promoting circular construction practices.
