Lonavala Missing Link Project near completion, to cut Mumbai–Pune Expressway travel time by 30 minutes

Mumbai–Pune-Expressway
The long-awaited Missing Link project on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway at Lonavala is nearing completion and is expected to open to the public in the coming months, reducing travel time by nearly 30 minutes. The existing 19.8 km stretch between the Khopoli exit and Sinhgad Institute at Kusgaon passes through Lonavala and has been a major traffic bottleneck due to narrow roads and heavy tourist inflow.

The new alignment will shorten the distance to 13.3 km by bypassing Lonavala through two tunnels measuring 8.9 km and 1.7 km. The project also features two major cable-stayed bridges of 840 metres and 650 metres, significantly easing congestion and improving traffic flow on one of India’s busiest expressway corridors.
