LMRC fast tracks Kanpur metro rail project

The much-awaited Kanpur metro rail project is set to become a reality as construction work will commence very shortly. Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) Kumar Keshav said that in the first phase, the Metro rail would run between IIT and Moti Jheel on an elevated track. He also assured officials that all hurdles are being removed before commencing work and has sought a NoC from all the departments concerned so that tenders could be floated and construction work commenced by September this year. The official inspected the Metro rail route, the sites for metro stations, the construction of Metro yard on the Polytechnic premises, and directed project building agencies to fast track the work. He also directed officials to build a 7m wide road on both sides of the Metro tracks to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic during construction,. Vice Chairman of Kanpur Development Authority Kinjal Singh said that the metro rail project in Kanpur will be commissioned by July 2021.
