Gujarat approves ₹1,248-cr for housing for all programs

The Gujarat government has allocated ₹1,248 crore for construction of affordable housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) during the current fiscal. With this, the state government has so far sanctioned 4.80 lakh houses of which 1.85 lakh houses have been completed to date at a cost of ₹2,105 crore. The government will build 1.07 lakh new houses this year said state finance minister Nitin Patel. He informed that the government has proposed to raise the stamp duty to meet a part of the funds as it has already allocated ₹4,894 crore under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Saheri Vikas Yojana. In another infra related program, under the National River Conservation Program, a purification project of Tapi is being taken up along with the Central government, Gujarat government and Surat Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs 922 crore, said an official spokesperson.
