L&T takes up ₹1,300-cr Chennai airport project

Adding to its project portfolio in the aviation infra building segment, the engineering and construction giant, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has recently secured the contract for the construction of the Chennai airport in the second phase of development at an investment of ₹1,300 crore. For the project, which will be completed in the next 42 months, construction work has already initiated, said official sources, elaborating that the second phase involved the demolition and reconstruction of the existing domestic and international terminals. On commissioning the airport will be able to handle about 30 million passengers as compared to 20 million currently, they claimed.
