Karnataka has recently given its go ahead to twin mega road projects
The state government in Karnataka has recently given its go ahead to twin mega road projects entailing a staggering investment of ₹6,412 crore, claimed chief minister, elaborating that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for these projects are currently being prepared to convert the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway into ten lanes road. The works for these projects would be divided into two packages whereby six lanes would be dedicated to non-stop movement of vehicles and the two lanes on each side of the highway would serve as service roads. The cost of package one of the projects would be ₹3,501 crore and the Union transport ministry already given clearance for the work between Nidaghatta and Bengaluru and the other stretch crisscrossing Nidaghatta to Mysuru is being taken up at a cost of ₹2,911 crore. In this connection sixty three per cent of land required for the projects has been acquired and initiatives are currently in full swing to acquired the remaining portion and that the first stage of work is expected to be completed in the next one and a half years.
