CIDCO plans ₹711-cr coastal road to JNPT

In a bid to provide world class road connectivity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), has recently decided to build a six lane coastal road at a cost of Rs 711 crore. The project will connect Belpada and Amra Marg at Panvel area directly with the port in Maharashtra and will also provide easy access to the proposed international airport in Navi Mumbai. It will start from Belpada passing over the foot hill of Jasai, making an interchange at Shivajinagar with the proposed Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and then running by the coast of Ulwe and providing access to the proposed off-shore banking centre of SEZ (OBC) and ultimately terminating near Panvel creek at Amra Marg. In this connection, e-tenders for the mega project have already been invited on the basis of design and build the project for which the financial bids are slated to be opened next month. The contract will cover a maintenance period of five years from the date of completion of project and it is scheduled to be completed within 36 months, said official sources.
