Kolkata rolls out plans for ₹5,246-cr rail projects

Following an outlay of ₹5,246 crore allotted in the Central Budget 2020-21, Kolkata has rolled out plans for ongoing, upcoming and new railway lines in West Bengal, said an official spokesperson, adding that due to the whopping allotment of fund, ambitious projects like doubling of Katihar – Kumedpur and Katihar-Mukuria lines of 64.5 km length costing ₹645 crore will be fast tracked. The Budget documents also revealed that a large number of railway projects, including the 1.67 km long doubling project named New Alipore- Mile 5B, have been completed and commissioned in West Bengal during 2019-20 and included four new projects of a total length of 15 km and an investment of ₹217 crore.
