Kolkata-port
Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata has launched a Rs 117.54 crore modernisation project for its iconic Bascule Bridge at the Kolkata Dock System to improve safety and cargo movement efficiency. The upgrade will refurbish the 1966-built structure that connects the Garden Reach–Metiabruz area with the rest of the city.

Originally constructed by Austrian firm Waagner-Biro Bridge Systems AG, the double-leaf rolling bridge opens to allow cargo ships to pass between Kidderpore Dock I and Dock II and closes to serve as a major road link for commercial vehicles and commuters. The modernisation is expected to enhance operational reliability and support smoother port logistics.
