The Delhi government has approved a Rs 802.18 crore road redevelopment project to upgrade nearly 400 km of roads across 45 Assembly constituencies. The Public Works Department will execute works on more than 241 major roads.

Of the total cost, Rs 643.36 crore will be funded through the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, while Rs 158.82 crore will be borne by the Delhi government. The roads will be upgraded using a wall-to-wall carpeting method, involving full-width resurfacing and strengthening instead of patch repairs to improve durability and uniform quality.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of the year and will be carried out in phases to minimise traffic disruption.
