Kanpur Metro Advances Tunnel Construction on Corridor-1

Under Corridor-1 of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, tunnel construction is progressing swiftly along the 2.40 km underground stretch between Swadeshi Cotton Mill and Kanpur Central. The 'Azad' Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) has achieved a significant milestone, completing 90 meters of tunnel on the up-line and finishing its initial drive. Meanwhile, the 'Vidyarthi' TBM has been successfully lowered into the launching shaft near Swadeshi Cotton Mill for the downline tunnel, with its launch towards Kanpur Central expected soon.
Once operational, both tunnels of this final 2.40 km stretch will be constructed simultaneously. Kanpur Metro has already completed approximately 5.50 km of underground tunneling from the McRobertganj ramp area to Kanpur Central, now focusing on the final stretch to Kanpur Central Station.
