Jammu gets Rs. 900-cr infra upgrades

Mehbooba Mufti
Close on the heels of launching multiple infra projects in the Srinagar area of the state, the J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has recently announced Rs. 900-cr projects covering the entire belt of Jammu, said official sources, claiming that a staggering sum worth Rs. 690-cr has been cleared for the development of Jammu city and its peripheral areas and Rs. 220-cr will be invested on the multiple projects across the Jammu district in the rural heartland of the hill state. To fast track the work the state government has decided to delink the development process in these major cities from the district administrations by formulating a Capital City Plan for both the cities. Srinagar, besides being the capital cities, have to bear the load of a considerable floating population coming to the city in search of livelihood thereby straining the civic infrastructure and amenities and these components have been factored in the planning process.
