ITA World Tunnel Congress 2026 to Be Held in Montréal, Showcasing Canada’s Underground Infrastructure Leadership

Canada, one of the world’s most active markets for underground infrastructure, continues to invest billions in transportation, water management, hydro and underground storage projects across major cities and provinces. With a strong legacy of ambitious tunnelling projects—from the Niagara hydro conveyance tunnel to the Fraser River immersed tube crossing—Canada is emerging as a major hub for international engineering expertise and services.
ITA WTC2026 will feature the largest-ever sold-out exhibition hall and a comprehensive technical programme comprising 730 presentations selected from a record 1,200 global abstracts. Representatives from all 81 ITA member nations are expected to participate, covering every aspect of the global tunnelling industry.
The congress will open with a plenary session featuring welcome addresses by ITA and WTC leadership, followed by keynote speeches from global industry experts, including urban planners, tunnelling specialists, infrastructure investors and nuclear waste disposal authorities, setting the tone for one of the most significant tunnelling events to date.
