SRM Engineering and FIL Industry Pvt Ltd
The Uttarakhand Tourism Department has signed an agreement with two private firms, SRM Engineering and FIL Industry Pvt Ltd, to construct a state-of-the-art ropeway to Yamunotri, a revered pilgrimage site situated at a height of over 10,000 ft in the Garhwal Himalayas. The agreement was inked in the presence of Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and state tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj.

The proposed ropeway will connect Yamunotri with Kharsali, where devotees worship Goddess Yamuna during winter. With a length of 3.38 km, the ropeway will be a mono cable detachable system with the capacity to carry up to 500 people per hour. It will be built in accordance with European standards and offer a safe and comfortable mode of transport for the pilgrims.

The new ropeway will save pilgrims from a 2-3 hour trek to the temple and transport them by cable car in just 10-15 minutes. This is expected to boost tourism and increase the number of visitors to the shrine.
