the construction of transport infrastructure
In the 2023-24 fiscal year, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated a significant sum of ₹55,000 crore to invest in the construction of transport infrastructure, including roads, expressways, and metro rail projects. The objective of these new infrastructure projects is to enhance basic and modern transport infrastructure in both urban and rural areas across the state's districts. This aligns with Uttar Pradesh's goal of creating jobs and achieving a $1-trillion economy target by 2027.

In its budget for 2023-24, the government has allocated over ₹30,000 crore for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges, leveraging its network of roads, expressways, airports, dry ports, logistics hubs, and industrial corridors to drive development. Additionally, ₹1,000 crore will be spent on developing roads linked to religious and spiritual tourism, while ₹50 crore will be allocated for road projects related to industrial and logistics parks.

Moreover, budgetary provisions of ₹585 crore and ₹465 crore have been allocated for the Kanpur and Agra metro rail projects, respectively. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor Regional Rapid Transit System project has been allocated over ₹1,300 crore.

These infrastructure projects are expected to enhance connectivity and accessibility, accelerate economic growth, and create employment opportunities, further bolstering Uttar Pradesh's position as a leading state in India.
