RLDA
The Indian Railways has begun construction on the first phase of India's first multi-modal transportation hub (MMTH) in Surat. The project, which has been approved by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) at a cost of ₹8.78 billion, will be developed in three phases. The first phase of construction, which involves the fabrication of cement blocks, has already begun and is being completed under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model with a target completion date of four years. The MMTH will be developed on an area of 331,000 square meters and will feature east and west side station buildings, concourses, and a platform area in the first phase, as well as an ISBT bus terminal. The MMTH will be fully accessible and will include skywalks, lounges, medical rooms, and retail spaces, and will be well-integrated with other modes of public transportation such as the GSRTC bus station, metro station, BRTS, and city bus services.
