PM inaugurates & lays foundation for development projects in Tamil Nadu & Telangana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth around ₹5,200 crore in Tamil Nadu and ₹11,300 crore in Telangana. In Telangana, he laid the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar, five National Highway projects, and the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, along with dedicating other railway-related development projects. He also flagged off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express at Secunderabad Railway Station in Hyderabad.
In Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister inaugurated the New Integrated Terminal Building (Phase-1) of Chennai International Airport and flagged off the Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express in Chennai. He also informed that Tamil Nadu has been allocated an all-time high of over ₹6,000 crores for rail infrastructure in this year’s Budget. The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant increase in the allocation of funds for the development and maintenance of national highways in Tamil Nadu, which has increased from around ₹1,200 crore in 2014-15 to over ₹8,200 crore in 2022-23.
The Prime Minister also mentioned several important projects in Tamil Nadu, including the Defence Industrial Corridor, PM MITRA mega textile parks, laying the foundation stone for the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway, and the construction of a multi-modal logistics park near Chennai. He added that the entire East Coast Road from Mamallapuram to Kanyakumari is being improved under the Bharatmala project.
The Prime Minister noted that the three important cities Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore are being directly benefited by the projects being inaugurated or started. He also highlighted the New Integrated Terminal Building inaugurated at the Chennai International Airport, which will cater to the growing passenger demand.
