Goa IDC gets ₹19-cr under PM Gati Shakti

Goa Industrial Development Corporation
Goa has received ₹19 crore under the PM Gati Shakti program, which will be utilized by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation for the development of phase four of the Verna industrial estate. The funds, which were sanctioned by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), will be used to construct internal roads, improve power and water supply, and enhance other infrastructure facilities at the industrial estate, according to government officials. While the government had also sought funding for the development of the Latambarcem industrial estate, the current allocation is insufficient.

Goa Investment Promotion Board CEO Swetika Sachan informed that the state will also seek additional approval to develop the Latambarcem industrial estate if the scheme is extended.

Sachan also announced the development of a GIS-based state master plan with 99 data layers that will facilitate holistic infrastructure planning in the state. This new initiative is expected to boost the state's efforts towards sustainable and efficient infrastructure development. With the development of the Verna industrial estate, Goa's industrial sector is set to receive a significant boost, which will further contribute to the state's economic growth.
