The government is planning to build 1,911 km of international connectivity roads by 2022 under its flagship Bharatmala scheme road and the road building program will be completed in a phased manner, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Mansukh Mandaviya said that in addition to this, it is also planning to 3,319 km of border roads under the same program at an investment of ₹25,000 crore. In a related development, the Chhattisgarh Government has recently approved a priority investment program for the construction of about 5,000 km of state roads at an estimated cost of about ₹10,500 crore and to fast track the initiative, the State Public Works Department (PWD) has approached the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to finance the mega road building program of the state government, he added.
