The construction on the widening of the much delayed Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway is set to start at an investment of ₹5,019 crore very shortly and that the project will be completed in the next two years, state Public Works Minister H D Revanna said. The six-laning of the highway, which is expected to cut travel time between the two cities in 90 minutes, has been awarded to Bhopal-headquartered Dilip Buildcon. The Bengaluru-Mysuru highway development work includes construction of a main carriageway of six lanes, which will be tolled road and a service road with two lanes on either side of the highway that will not be toll free. The NHAI has divided the work into two packages — Bengaluru-Nidaghatta (56.2 km) and Nidaghatta-Mysuru (61.1 km) for which the state has acquired 63% of the land and work is all set start in the next fortnight as the remaining portion of the land is being acquired on war footing.
