India on Track to Become $5 Trillion Economy by 2027: Piyush Goyal

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal reaffirmed that India is firmly on course to become a ₹4.29 lakh crore (US$5 trillion) economy by 2027, despite global challenges, driven by nationwide collaboration and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at a virtual session hosted by the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Goyal called the government’s decade of economic reforms “transformational,” paving the path toward achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
He highlighted India’s rise from being part of the 'Fragile Five' to becoming one of the world’s top five economies. Key indicators such as foreign exchange reserves of ₹6 lakh crore (US$698 billion), a robust banking system, and historically low post-independence inflation underscore this transformation.
Calling India an “oasis of stability,” Goyal credited the nation’s inclusive, innovation-driven growth model. He emphasized the strategic role of Free Trade Agreements with the UK, Australia, and the EU in boosting MSMEs and exports, and said India is poised to lead in AI, quantum computing, and 3D printing.
