IIA Natcon 2020 to focus on Self-Reliance & Resilience in Architecture

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is organizing the Natcon 2020 on the 11th and 12th of July, as an online event using a multifaceted platform. The National Convention will follow the theme 'Transcend' which will focus on Self-Reliance and Resilience in Architecture with an inclusive approach to address the 'equitable' built environment for all sections of the society, the lessons from the pandemic, and the way forward. The sessions are constituted to surpass the boundaries of social inequality and inadequate habitat for the needy. It will feature expert talks by internationally renowned architects and panel discussions on topics like transcend, resilience, innovation, self-reliance, inclusive and valedictory. Around 3000 architects from all over the country will participate. Prominent speakers include Rahul Mehrotra, Founder Principal of RMA Architects of Mumbai + Boston, and Professor of Urban Design and Planning and Chair of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Marion Weiss, co-founder of WEISS/MANFREDI Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism and the Graham Chair Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania; Sonam Wangchuk, an Indian engineer, innovator and education reformist and the founding director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh; Moshe Safdie CC FAIA FRAIC, an Israeli-Canadian architect, urban designer, educator, theorist, and author; and Michael Manfredi, co-founder of WEISS/MANFREDI Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism and Senior Design Critic at Harvard University.
