IGI awaits new road and tunnel projects

Ensuring high speed connectivity to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the Centre is considering the construction of an elevated parallel highway and also a connecting tunnel from Haryana side, Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari said recently, claiming that the projects will be in addition to Dwarka Express Highway, the work on which will start soon. On this score, he recently held a high-level meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajpathi Raju, to examine and study the projects threadbare. The minister said that the government will also construct a tunnel from Haryana side and connect it with the T3 international airport to reduce the frequent traffic jams. The process of land acquisition between Delhi and Haryana has already started. Meanwhile, work on the ambitious Rs.800 crore pilot pod taxi project, also known as Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) or Metrino, is also likely to start shortly, he said.
