Hyderabad takes up bridge projects worth ₹231-cr

Bridge Project
The state administration in Talengana has decided to build two new bridges over the Musi river, opposite Salar Jung Museum at an investment of ₹231 crore, and they will be ready by 2020. The Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL), the implementing agency, has secured clearances for the twin projects and the DPR for the pedestrian bridge and fruit bridge has been submitted to the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD). They will get administrative sanction shortly, paving the way for floating tenders, said chief engineer and chief operating officer, HRDCL, J Mohan Naik. The department has designed a pedestrian bridge to accommodate 960 solar-powered kiosks for hawkers near the Charminar. The bridge can accommodate two- and four-wheelers, and a tourist information centre will also be opened. A fruit bridge has been proposed adjacent to the Naya Pul for creating space exclusively for fruit vendors doing business abutting the Charminar and make it easy for visitors to reach the monument.
