Himachal Pradesh has fast tracked the construction of various road projects involving an investment of ₹546 crore. The state has targeted a total number of 27 projects, which includes 17 roads and 10 bridges under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund. In view of the geographical conditions of the state, it has called upon the Centre to release funds earmarked for the purpose. Keeping in mind the density of vehicular traffic on Shimla-Matour and Pathankot-Mandi national highways, it is essential that periodic renewal and maintenance of these roads be ensured, which needs funds. The Centre should provide adequate funds to the National Highways Authority of India and the 97 km long Sainj-Aut National Highway-305 including Jalori tunnel must be included under the World Bank Green National Highways Project. The Union government has sanctioned 1,486 crore for the Paonta-Sahib-Gumma-Fadus Pul roads and ₹1,112 crore for Hamirpur-Mandi roads under World Bank Green National Highways Projects and for the upkeep of over 205 km Samdho-Kaza-Gramphu National Highway-505.
