Decks cleared to restart Udhampur-Banihal highway project
In a recent meeting, Secretary, Power Development Department, M Raju, cleared the bottlenecks hampering construction of the Udhampur to Banihal national highway project in Jammu & Kashmir. The senior officers of Power Transmission Corporation of Power Development Department (PDD) will have to shift the utilities coming in he way of 4 laning of the highway, said Director, Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation, P R Angurala, and the various issues coming in the way of smooth construction of the remaining 44 km stretch of the NH were resolved. 45 Transmission Towers are required to be erected, for which the work has been bifurcated in three sections in which Udhampur to Chenani and Nashri to Ramban sections are likely to be completed in the next few months, while the Ramban to Banihal section will be completed by the end of this year. Construction activities have remained suspended for one month but as per the recent guidelines issued by the Government, under construction infrastructure development projects are to be restarted on a priority basis.
