Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC)
The long-pending demand of residents of Gurgaon for metro links to Dwarka and IGI airport has been fulfilled with the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) deciding to develop a metro link from Rezangla Chowk in Sector 23 to Dwarka's Sector 21, which will connect the proposed Gurgaon metro with Delhi Metro's Blue Line and also with the Airport Express line. The earlier plan was to develop the route from Rezangla Chowk to Dwarka Sector 24, GMDA, CEO, VS Kundu said, elaborating that the route change has been finalized so as to give commuters from Gurgaon access to both the Blue Line and the Airport Express line in Dwarka. The Sector 21 station in Dwarka is an interchange, connecting two lines. Hence, it has been decided to now take the route till Dwarka Sector 21. The metro link will be developed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Haryana government has initiated talks in this regard. Delhi Metro has already begun the feasibility study for the routes and the stations, following which, it will start work on the route as well as on the stations and a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared and sent to the government for final approvals.
