Gujarat approves Rs.597-cr for smart cities

In its bid to fast track the smart city projects across the state, Gujarat government has allocated Rs. 597-cr under the Smart City Mission for Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara cities. The government allocated Rs. 60-cr for a subordinate loan for the Metro project in Ahmedabad. Apart from flyovers, cities have got allocations to improve connectivity. The Ahmedabad-Bagodara-Rajkot six-laning project finally got an allocation of Rs. 50-cr in the budget. This will speed up transportation between Ahmedabad-Saurashtra, north Gujarat and Saurashtra. The government allocated Rs. 225-cr for automated super sucker machines and other equipment for all municipal corporations and district headquarters and also building four new shelter homes for orphans-one each in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot.
