The Union government has granted in-principle approval for the four-laning of the Panaji-Hyderabad national highway project via Chorlaghat under the Bharatmala project, PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, said, elaborating that road construction work worth ₹12,500 crore across the state are currently underway on the state's national highways, and ₹12,000 crore would be sanctioned shortly for more development work to create world-class road network. In regard to the newly cleared project, he claimed that the Centre would get the necessary environment and forest clearance for the 120-km road starting from Panaji to Belagavi via Chorla and thereafter from Bijapur to Hyderabad, he insisted.
