Govt. clears Rs. 5,815-cr for urban infra

An inter-ministerial committee of AMRUT has recently approved investments of Rs. 5,815-cr to be spent during 2017-2020 in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, and Tripura, Urban Development Secretary, Rajiv Gauba said, adding that the committee approved investment of Rs. 2,279-cr for Gujarat, Rs. 1,232-cr for Rajasthan, Rs. 1,200-cr for Punjab and Bihar walked away with Rs. 1,042-cr and Rs. 62-cr for the next three financial years. Before approving these investments, the Committee reviewed progress in the launch of projects under State Action Plans approved for the last and current financial years. He urged them to ensure implementation of reforms mandated under AMRUT. The program envisaged at providing water taps to all urban households after building the required water infrastructure, which is followed by improving sewerage networks, storm water drains, public transport and it is also mandatory to develop at least one park or green open space in each city every year, he insisted.
