Govt approves ₹1,691-cr border road network

Border Roads Organisation (BRO)
The government has approved an additional ₹1,691 crore for roads to be built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in J&K and Uttarakhand during the current fiscal. The road transport and highway ministry has informed the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB) Director General Lt Gen Harpal Singh that ₹1,351.10 crore has been sanctioned to BRO for building roads in J&K and a total of ₹340 crore ceiling has been approved for Uttarakhand for national highways and has also given a nod for additional sanction of ₹71 crore for the highway works by the state's Public Works Department in J&K, Ladakh and Sikkim. It has enhanced the total ceiling to ₹1,955 crore for highways work for Nagaland under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) from the existing ₹1,081 crore as the competent authority has approved the additional sanction ceiling for NH(O) works for the year 2020-21 to the states/ UTs of J&K, Ladakh, Nagaland, Sikkim for state PWDs and for state/ UT of J&K and Uttarakhand for BRO.
