Goa gets Rs.160.28 cr infra projects

Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut)
The Union ministry of Urban Development recently approved urban mobility projects worth Rs.160.28 crore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) for Panaji in Goa. The funds, 50% of which will be contributed by the Centre, will go towards development of urban transport systems in the capital in a bid to reduce vehicular traffic congestion. Goa has focused primarily on urban transport, which also includes eco-mobility. As per the state annual action plan SAAP III, the projects that will be undertaken are pedestarianizing foot bridges and walkways that will reduce congestion. With the focus on improving urban infrastructure SAAP for 2017-18 was granted Rs.78 crore for urban mobility and transport while Rs.2.14 crore have been allocated for development of green spaces and parks for the public and score of other such projects will be taken up alongside.
