GHMC floats bid for Rs.220 cr flyover

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has invited bids for the 2.8 km long flyover project entailing a construction cost of Rs.220.57 crore. Apart from easing traffic movement in the IT corridor, the flyover will also serve commuters travelling from Mehdipatnam. The 6 lanes carriage way flyover will start from Shaikpet with one arm stretching to Filmnagar and another arm taking a left turn connecting Khajaguda Junction, OU Colony and Whisper Valley. It will ensure seamless flow of traffic in Mehdipatnam, Gachibowli, Miyapur and also in the financial district, said an official spokesperson, elaborating that the GHMC has specified multiple features for the six lanes flyover; standard viaduct spans and obligatory spans, reinforced soil walls, crash barriers, friction slabs, approach slabs, dirt walls, pier protection works, anti carbonation painting on the exposed concrete surfaces and sand blasting for the exposed steel surfaces.
