FM Sitharaman Urges Railways to Prioritize Safety & Expedite Kavach System
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reviewed the capital expenditure plan of the Ministry of Railways, emphasizing the need to focus on safety and commuter convenience. She urged officials to expedite the phased implementation of Kavach, India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, and ensure timely achievement of the allocated capex targets.
Railway officials updated the Minister that Kavach-related works are currently underway on more than 3,000 route kilometers (RKm) across the Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai sections.
