Five architecture firms in fray to rebuild Parliament House

Parliament Of India
Five Indian architecture firms are in the race for the Centre's ambitious plan to redevelop the Parliament building and the Central Vista. Prior to this, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry had invited proposals from national and international designing and planning players for the project which is being executed by the CPWD. Of the six firms that had submitted bids, one was rejected as it did not meet the minimum criteria of an annual turnover of Rs 20 crore. A committee of experts is currently evaluating the technical proposals submitted by the firms. Financial proposals of only those bidders qualifying in the technical proposal will be opened. The government has so far not publicly shared the estimated cost of its project. According to the plan, the government would redevelop the 3 km-stretch of the Central Vista spanning Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate and the entire project will be completed by 2024.
