Eicher Trucks & Buses, part of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), marked National Energy Conservation Day by reaffirming its strategy to build an energy-efficient mobility ecosystem focused on operational efficiency, fleet productivity and smart, sustainable manufacturing. The company continues to integrate energy-saving technologies, expand renewable energy usage and help customers achieve higher productivity with lower energy consumption.

A major contributor to this vision is Eicher’s Industry 4.0-enabled Bhopal plant, designed with digital intelligence for resource-efficient manufacturing. The facility features a 52-million-litre water body that supplies water for the paint shop, while recycled and purified water is returned to the lake, reflecting Eicher’s strong circular resource management practices. The quality of recycling has transformed the water body into a thriving ecosystem, now home to fish and migratory birds.

Energy efficiency across operations is strengthened through LED lighting that replaces nearly 5,000 traditional fixtures, IoT-based energy monitoring and VFD-enabled motor control systems. VECV is advancing toward 70% renewable energy usage by FY27 and aims to become Water Positive by 2030.

On-road efficiency is supported by Eicher’s connected ecosystem, with more than 3,87,000 vehicles using MyEicher’s predictive insights to reduce idling, optimise utilisation and improve fuel economy. The company is also expanding its alternate-fuel portfolio, deploying CNG, LNG and electric commercial vehicles across multiple states.

Guided by its “Pro-Profit, Pro Planet” philosophy, Eicher’s sustainability efforts span waste minimisation, emission control, plantation drives and Zero Waste to Landfill initiatives, aligned with UN SDGs 6, 7, 12 and 13. As India progresses through its Amrit Kaal, Eicher remains committed to modernising commercial transportation responsibly by reducing energy at source, optimising consumption, and enabling efficient, scalable and sustainable logistics and mobility solutions.
