ECR secures ₹4,560-cr for building new rail projects
The East Central Railway has received ₹4,560.12 crore from the Centre as part of the budgetary allocations for construction of new rail lines, said chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar. The amount is almost 13.5% higher than last year's. While the railways have got ₹448 crore for laying new lines at different places located under the jurisdiction of the ECR, ₹185 crore has been sanctioned for the rail line gauge conversion work in Bihar. A sum of ₹635 crore has been allocated to the ECR for completing track renewal work. Rs 59 crore will be spent on building road over bridges or under-road bridges at different locations in the state to replace unmanned railway crossing gates. ₹227 crore has been allocated for platform surfacing, construction of sheds, lavatories, waiting rooms, ticket booking counters, benches, lights and other basic amenities. ₹132.44 crore will be used to develop modern signaling and telecommunication systems where fast movement of passenger trains is expected. The Centre has also allocated ₹136.79 crore for increasing production in railway workshops; and ₹56 crore for building approach roads near railway crossings to ensure hassle free movement of vehicular traffic.
