The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has started carrying out preliminary work on the Phase-IV of the metro project with the Delhi government granting its approval to the six proposed corridors of the mega metro venture. The project was approved by the Centre in March this year, but only three out of the six proposed corridors got clearances. Phase-IV has once again become a flashpoint with Delhi government writing to the Centre that it wouldn’t bear the operational losses for the Phase-IV project. The government also refused to accept any liability for the loan to be taken from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Meanwhile, DMRC has started the process of roping in an outside agency to carry out the design and construction of a large section of the proposed Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg corridor of Phase-IV. The 29-km long corridor will become the longest and one of the most important. The private agency selected will design and construct a section of the elevated viaduct, elevated ramp, siding line and ten elevated stations of the corridor. The stations are Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar and North Pitampura.
