DMRC floats tender for ₹1,365-cr underground metro line

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd has floated a global tender for the construction of a 6.981 km underground section under Package DC-07 between Sangam Vihar Station – Sarita Vihar depot including the construction of three metro stations of Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro Rail Project. The project involves design and construction of underground UP & down tunnels by Shield TBM from the end of cut & cover tunnel near Sangam Vihar metro Station up to the existing Sarita Vihar depot. It also involves underground Ramp and Cut & Cover Tunnels near Sangam Vihar and Tughlakabad metro station and underground metro Stations at Maa Anandmayee Marg, Tughlakabad Railway Colony and Tughlakabad, besides retrieval/launching shafts on Aerocity Tughlakabad corridor of Delhi Metro Rail Project of Phase-4.

The project involves an investment of ₹1365.51 crore and requires a completion period of 42 months. The tender for underground section between Aerocity and Kishangarh along with 4 stations under contract package DC-08 has already been floated by DMRC. The funding for this work will be provided by the Japanese institution Japan International Cooperation Agency and bidding will be conducted following JICA's ―Single-Stage Two Envelope Bidding Procedure. JICA has signed an agreement with the Central government to provide an ODA loan of ₹8,390 crore for the construction of three priority corridors comprising of extension of 12.5 km line (Mukundpur – Maujpur), 28.9 km Line 8 (Janakpuri West – RK Ashram) and a new corridor named Silverline spanning 23.6 km between Aerocity and Tughlakabad in Delhi.
