Delhi PWD Plans Elevated Redevelopment of 55 km Ring Road to Ease Traffic Congestion

Elevated-Corridor
The Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD) is set to redevelop the 55 km Mahatma Gandhi Road Corridor, commonly known as Ring Road, to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. AECOM India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the elevated road corridor.

The project will be executed in six phases, covering stretches from Azadpur Flyover to Hanuman Temple, Chandgi Ram Akhara to Majnu Ka Tilla, Hanuman Temple to DND Flyover, DND Flyover to Moti Bagh Metro Station, Moti Bagh to Rajouri Garden, and Rajouri Garden to Pacific Mall, Pitampura, and Azadpur Flyover.

AECOM’s scope includes traffic and mobility analysis, environmental and social impact assessments, geotechnical studies, and the design of underpasses, grade separators, and elevated sections. The DPR will also integrate metro and public transport systems to improve last-mile connectivity.

The plan features real-time traffic simulation models, the use of green construction materials, pedestrian and cycle tracks, enhanced lighting, signage, and upgraded safety infrastructure to ensure a modern and sustainable transport corridor.
