Decks clear for ₹612-cr road project in TN

National Highway
In order to kick start the stalled Tindivanam-Krishnagiri national highway project with a length of 80-km, the Union government has recently allocated ₹268 crore as one-time funding infusion to steer clear the project. The ministry of road transport and highways has taken steps to complete all incomplete road projects to improve the road connectivity. The project in question would be taken up under EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode at the risk and cost of the concessionaire. Apart from this, the NHAI has taken up two major projects to expand the Villipuram-Nagapattinam National Highway 45A and Trichy-Chidambaram National Highway 227 from two to four lanes and improve their standards at a cost of around ₹7,600 crore. The two projects would be executed under the Union government‘s Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme aimed at improving road connectivity and freight movement for boosting industrial growth, said NHAI source.
