Under the Road Connectivity Project for Left Wing Extremism Affected Areas (RCPLWEA) for the year 2017-18, Telangana state has been provided funds worth Rs.546.96 crore. Under the arrangement, the Central government will provide funds to an extent of Rs.287.31 crore, the State government will bear the remaining cost of Rs.259.65 crore. The 452 km long roads will be laid covering the erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Khammam connecting the Maoist affected areas of Telangana with those in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The newly cleared road projects will strengthen road connectivity between the three States as well as provide better transport facility to people living in remote Maoist infested areas. Better road network would enable movement of heavy vehicles as well as provide a strategic advantage for the police forces to make in-roads into the Maoist hit belts. The Central government gave approval for construction of 20 major roads which includes three major bridges at Parnashala and Mukkanuru-Burgugudem on the Godavari River and also at Arenda on Munneru River, said official sources.
