Shortly after the announcement of a slew of projects by industrialists, including Mukesh Ambani, Kumara Mangalam Birla and Gautam Adani, by signing investment pacts of Rs.4.28 lakh crore in the first day of the two-day investors’ summit in Lucknow, the Prime Minister announced the setting up of a defence production industrial corridor entailing an investment of Rs.20,000 crore in the Bundelkhand belt of the state. The corridor would link Agra, Aligarh, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot belts, thereby, ushering in a new era of development in the state. These apart, the PM also made a mention of the civil aviation projects being set up in the state including two international airports coming up in Jewar and Kushinagar area of the state. In addition, the government is also building Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressway connecting industrial corridors ensuring regional connectivity linking different districts and connecting tourism points. Addressing the summit, Adani Group promised to invest Rs.35,000 crore in road, energy, logistics, solar power and agriculture. The Aditya Birla Group has committed to invest Rs.25,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the next 5 years. The group will invest in areas of finance, cement, and chemicals, Aditya Birla group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said. Chairman, Reliance Industries also promised to push Rs.10,000 crore into the state through Jio over the next three years.
