Credai cracks Rs.38k-cr housing projects

In a major first-of-its-kind and the largest private investment initiative in affordable housing sector, the members of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) have decided to invest over Rs.38,000 crore to build over 2 lakh affordable houses across the country, said Urban Development Minister, M.Venkaiah Naidu, adding that over one lakh units are to be built in Maharashtra, 41,921 houses in NCR, 28,465 in Gujarat, 7,037 in Karnataka, and 6,055 in UP. The cost of construction of these houses has been estimated to be in the range of Rs.15 lakh to Rs.30 lakh per unit and the body has already launched 352 projects in 53 cities across 17 states.
